This Whitsun bank holiday weekend, the Young Georgians invite you to see the marvels of Edinburgh. Georgian Edinburgh is both a city of enlightenment and romanticism. We will tour the New Town, an internationally important example of eighteenth-century town-planning, and go beyond, seeing how the Georgians both altered and celebrated the Old Town.
We are planning the following provisional agenda; though this may be subject to change:
- Saturday 24 May: Time for participants to reach Edinburgh from across the UK in the morning; afternoon and early evening tour of Georgian work in the Old Town
- Sunday 25 May: Free time for participants in the morning; tour of the New Town commencing early afternoon
- Monday 26 May: Tour of the Georgian Southside and Newington in the morning; time for participants to return home.
Participants are free to join events as they wish. Participants travelling from outside Edinburgh are welcome to arrange their own accommodation; however, please let us know if you would be happy to share a hostel room with fellow participants and we will put participants in touch with each other. This would no doubt represent a significant saving compared to other accommodation options.
The tour is open to all Young Georgian members and will cost £25. Please let us know if you have any accessibility requirements.
Time
