The Georgian Group administers the F.E. Cleary Heritage Fund, a charitable trust dedicated to the conservation of historic fabric dating to the Georgian era. 

The Group’s Executive Committee serves as the Fund’s Trustees, awarding grants annually to a select number of projects focused on repairing Georgian fabric. Applicants are asked to specify the amount they seek from the Cleary Fund and are encouraged to view our previous winners at the bottom of this page to gauge the amounts distributed. 

Given the modest sums available, the Fund aims to support small projects or larger ones where our funding can prompt other sources to make grants. The Group is unable to fund the preparation of documents and reports relating to a project, however, other sources of funding for these purposes are available. Other funding resources are available, including Heritage Funding Directory and The Church of England Conservation Grants. 

If you are unsure whether your project requires LBC, Planning Permission, or Faculty, please contact your local authority or Diocese for clarification.

The Trustees convene every September to review applications submitted throughout the year. The deadline for 2025 submissions is 1st September. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by early October.

Before submitting your application, please register your interest and project with Eddie Waller – email as above. You should make clear within your application any other sources of funding applied for and when the outcome of those applications can be expected.
