Following revisions to the proposed Bath Rugby Stadium scheme, we have written to the local authority acknowledging some improvements– including a reduction in height achieved via a tapering roofline – but continuing to express our concern about levels of harm. In line with ICOMOS, we believe that more can be done to reduce harm to the significance of designated heritage assets, the character and appearance of the Conservation Area, and the Outstanding Universal Value of the World Heritage Sites. The scheme will be debated at Planning Committee in May. We have requested that – in the event the scheme is consented – a restrictive covenant is put in place for the site. We will keep members informed of any developments.
