We’re delighted to announce the promotion of both Edward Waller and Tom Whitfield to Senior Conservation Adviser in recognition of their exemplary work delivering conservation advice for buildings of our period across London and the South East and Northern England respectively.

In 2022, Eddie led the Group’s efforts to save the London Custom House from harmful conversion proposals – a case we fought and won at public inquiry. More recently he has been responsible for our response on contentious proposals for Clandon Park House, Surrey and has become a full IHBC member.

Meanwhile, Tom – who holds a PhD in historical archaeology – has a successful track-record of working with applicants to secure amendments to harmful schemes. At Gilling Castle, Yorkshire, he has offered extensive advice and guidance to the applicant and local authority to help secure a sympathetic and sustainable scheme of reuse for a disused and at-risk Grade I listed country house.

Many congratulations to them both!
