The Georgian Group is delighted to announce our symposium for 2022, which will take place at the Great Hall, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London on Thursday 3 November. Following successful conferences run by the Group in previous years on Georgian London Revisited, Women and Architecture, the architecture of James Gibbs and the work of the Adam brothers, our symposium for 2022 will examine how and where medicine was studied and debated, how knowledge was disseminated and how healthcare was provided in what spaces and through what mechanisms. A series of short papers by both established and younger scholars will cover the transmission of medico-scientific knowledge, health and the environment, places of confinement, and hospital spaces.
