We are deeply saddened to share that Woolton Hall in Liverpool, one of Northern England’s most important Georgian houses, suffered a major fire overnight.

This Grade I listed masterpiece, originally built in 1704 and extensively remodelled in 1774 by the renowned architect Robert Adam, has long been celebrated as the finest example of Adam’s work in the region. Woolton Hall was particularly notable for its elegant proportions, refined classical detailing, and exceptional interior plasterwork, all hallmarks of Adam’s neoclassical genius.

The hall has sadly stood vacant since 2003, but recent collaborative efforts between The Georgian Group, Liverpool City Council, and Historic England had been working towards securing a long-term scheme for the repair and reuse of this irreplaceable building.

At this stage, the full extent of the fire damage remains unclear. The Georgian Group is in close contact with Liverpool City Council and will continue to monitor the situation as further information becomes available.
