Young Georgian visit to Greenaway Mosaics and Lamport Hall
A morning visit to the workshop of fellow Young Georgian Tom Greenaway in Northamptonshire, where he produces some of the nation’s finest examples of Pietra dura. His work centres on the conservation of historic mosaics and new bespoke commissions - such as the Coat of Arms for Richard III’s tombstone in Leicester Cathedral.
Following a pub lunch, we will take in the fascinating Lamport Hall before it opens for the season. Although largely Georgian, the house has a Tudor core and a fine classical frontage by John Webb, completed in the mid-seventeenth century. By good fortune, the house also hosts an expertly restored Pietra dura table by Tom.
Price to include return transport from Banbury and entry to Lamport Hall.
