This exclusive tour offers the opportunity to visit many private country houses while residing in one, Weston Park, the former home of the Earl of Bradford. Family treasures acquired over generations which are still in Weston Park included significant paintings such as a room with walls covered in Van Dyck portraits, another room with walls covered in 18th century Gobelins tapestries, collections of oriental and European ceramics, exquisite furniture supplied by Chippendale and others. All these and more will be yours to enjoy during our exclusive visit. Famous ‘Capability’ Brown advised on the landscape at Weston in the 18th century and this has undergone restoration in celebration of the tercentenary of his birth in 2016 and will be part of our study. Each day other stately homes will be privately visited, some such as Willey Park and Oakley Park reflecting fascinating changes made by current heirs to adapt to living in historic houses today. After our days of sightseeing we return to Weston Park to perhaps enjoy a drink by the fire in the library before our gourmet candlelit dinner. Gareth Williams, Curator of the Weston Park collections, will be our exceptional guide throughout this unforgettable tour which begins and ends in London.
