16 March-Walk: Huguenots of Spitalfields

Thurs 16 March (morning), £25

Meet at Bishopsgate exit at Liverpool

Street Station

The Huguenots had a huge impact on Spitalfields, particularly its economy. There had always been a silk industry of sorts in the area, but with the diligence and skills of the Huguenots this industry thrived, and Spitalfields became ‘weaver town’. Our walk will be led by Charlie de Wet, Chair of the Huguenots of Spitalfields. Charlie de Wet is a qualified City ofLondon guide. She has lived in Spitalfields for over 20 years and conducts walks about architecture, immigrants, historic Spitalfields and Huguenot silk weavers.
