Event Details

£15

This talk will explore the more modest buildings of Georgian London, many of which portray a layer of London that has all but vanished but which give a more accurate picture of London as it was at the beginning of the Victorian era. It will also examine a remarkable and virtually unknown building type, not quite as modest, which has completely disappeared from the capital.

Andrew Byrne is an architectural historian who has written extensively about Georgian London. He is the founder of LONDON 1840 which is building a scale model of London as it was in that year (www.london1840.com).

This talk forms part of a Young Georgian lecture series on eighteenth-century culture.

Doors open 6.15pm, talk starts 6.30pm (inc wine). All members welcome.
