This lecture will provide a brief history of gem collecting and engraving during the 18th Century and will consider the wider impact of engraved gems on sculpture, painting and architecture during the period. This fascinating history will be told through a selection of gems to appear in an exhibition at Wartski in October 2019.

Thomas Holman is a director at Wartski, a family firm of antique dealers established in 1865 specialising in fine jewellery, works of art by Carl Fabergé, antique silver and objets de vertu. He specialises in 19th and 20th Century jewellery design and engraved gems.

Doors open 6.15pm, talk starts 6.30pm (includes wine). All members welcome.
