Mystery Watercolour

Mystery Watercolour

A Georgian Group member writes:

"I am a member of the Group and have the attached image, the location of which mystifies me. An unsigned early 19th Century watercolour of quality, 25 x 47 cm, it depicts some sort of 18th Century institution, perhaps a school or orphanage, with children playing."

Any ideas as to the name and location of the building gratefully received.

It looks like Portsmouth Dockyard to me. The building on the right is now the Museum of the Royal Navy, the buildings on the left were demolished and replaced in the 19th C. The uniforms could be naval. See https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-o/05/b4/05/a4/portsmouth-historic-dockyard.jpg

Is it a W G Herdman of Bluecoat School Lane.

Looks similar to the original frontage of The Bluecoat, once the Bluecoat School
